A THORNED ROSE
Beauty perfection and revered
But is it all as appeared?
For glorious it’s carmine bloom
All encapsulating to consume
Seldom we see the whole picture
Drawn in meekly like a lamb to an altar
For what lies beneath its glorious appearance
Intoxicated by its intoxicating fragrance
Hidden deep underneath sharp thorns lie
Underneath deception sly
It’s easy to forget when taken in by the moment
Emotions run high with lust’s torment
Not everything beautiful is as it seems
Nor be fooled by fantasies dreams
Think first before being overcome by infatuation
For lust withers and dies as fast as it’s creation
A thorned rose as beautiful as it may be
Can deceive so we only see what we want to see
