WHEN THE MOON WAS BRIGHT
The moon was bright and hung low in the sky
To the rendezvous secretly she sneaked by
Waves lapped on the shore embracing shingle
A sudden breeze made her shiver and tingle
Walking by the shore lit by the moon
She hurried, knowing she'd be there soon
Under the tree on the hill
There he stood waiting perfectly still
Reunited with her lover
Making promises to be together forever
If only life could be so simple
But it never is when it comes to actual
For she knew deep in her heart it never could be so
For one day he would up and go
Her heart broken and reduced to tears
Confirming her prediction and all her fears
In her heart she knew he lied
Every night she weeped and cried
But every month when the moon is bright
She makes her way by it's light
On the hill by the tree
And there she glances at the sea
Hoping he will be coming ashore
Telling her, that it's her whom he adores
Many years have now gone
Her soul tormented for so long
And there her spirit gazes out at the waves
Hoping he'll return to her one day
