THE LITTLE MERMAID
The little mermaid sat on a rock looking at the shore
Gazing at the waves she loved and adored
She combed her hair with a comb of shell listening to the sea
And looked in her mirror undoing her hair free
Unbeknown to her an admirer watched her so
He watched her many times and of her wanted to know
But he had legs and was not of the sea and wondered if she realised
Here was a man who watched her and of her idolised
One day bravely he sneaked behind she turned and their eyes met
The love of the sea called her but hesitating yet
He knew he was not of her world and she was not of his
He swam in the waves with her embracing they kissed
The sea is cruel it takes no prisoners and high were the waves
Taking the bewitched admirer to his watery grave
Every evening on a rock underneath twilight skies
A mermaid combs her hair with her comb of shell and sadly she cries
