MY SOUL IS SMITTEN

Something touched my soul tonight

Like a butterfly fluttering in flight

Beautiful, perfect, pure but deep

Right into the centre of my core

Straight to my heart a cupid arrow soared

And suddenly I feel different, like there's an open door

Like a key has unlocked a heart that's been closed

Has been opened and the chain's broken not holding it anymore

It's new and it's different and a page unwritten

Suddenly I feel my soul is now smitten

CONNECTION

I'm feeling a connection I don't want to feel

For I don't know if I'm crazy or if this is real

For I'm feeling something so deep it touches my soul

I'm feeling this is something out with my control

I feel I'm falling in love and it frightens me

For it's been such a long time, it seems an eternity

How a chance meeting can have such an effect

That's raising emotions I long thought dormant and dead

Something has struck and broke down my walls

I'm overwhelmed at the wonder and power of it all

FAULTS AND FLAWS

I am imperfect so don't make me out to be

For I am human with faults and flaws can't you not see?

Don't place me on a pedestal for I'll only topple off to fall

I'm not some perfect goddess in alabaster but full of faults and flaws

I'm here on earth just like all of us to learn lessons and to grow

For if I was perfect an angel I'd be and in heaven surely this you know

I'm a sinner just like everyone else for this is why I'm here

Imperfections faults and flaws you'll surely see if you come close and near

So don't place me on a pedestal for I'll only topple off and fall

I'm just the same as everyone else with all our faults and flaws

A PLACE I NEVER WANT TO GO

I'm never going to allow myself to fall in love for it causes too much pain

It eats you up with anxiety and insecurity and leaves you never the same

I know it hurts to be lonely and sometimes that makes you feel low and sad

But the anguish, insecurities and hopelessness from falling in love hurts inside so bad

Falling in love turns you into a needy nag a personality to avoid

It hurts like a hole in the head, takes your heart and leaves a hole an empty void

This may seem very cynical but I've been there and never again want to again

I've had my heart tossed and turned, been played for a stupid fool with stupid games

I've learned from this and it's not ideal and lonely yes I know

But it's a dark and painful place to be hurt in love and a place never I want to go

PAIN OF THE BROKEN HEART

Does the pain of a broken heart ever go?

I'd like to think it did so

But it seems to go slowly by

Why I do not really know

We cannot have a perfect life for what would we learn

We learn through, hurt, sorrow, pain and adversity

Love brings joy, laughter too, but to understand we need to feel pain

Broken hearts hurt like hell but love spans eternity

You may not get what you want but you will be given what you need

So sometimes things don't happen when you want it so badly

But fate is planned by us for we make our own destiny

But don't underestimate what we ourselves can achieve through sheer positivity

Broken hearts do heal and I can't guarantee you'll be quite the same

But you will find the love one day in which to mend and heal

It may not be when you want and it may be in another lifetime

But we will get all that we need, and when it comes that love we will really feel

Love hurts there is no doubt but it brings joy too

True love never dies it spans years and many lifetimes and grows through adversity

Just know you are loved and cared for for this is true

Remember this true love finds you somehow and spans all eternity

As you drift off to sleep I hope you dream of me

And in your dreams it's my face you see

May you sweetly talk

And as lovers walk

Hand in hand

Across beach and sand

Or perhaps some meadow in the sun

Where you'll tell me I'm the one

And it will really be true

And as I gaze and look at you

Into your brown eyes with mine of blue

You will softly say Baby I love you

I am just me, simple but complicated

I'm kind of silly but can be tenacious and fixated

I'm a contradiction in every way

And can be serious but like to play

I'm sensitive but aloof and you'll never know what goes on in my mind

But I will be your best friend for I am always very kind

But don't ever cross me, I'm no doormat and I can be a shrew

I'm not always easy but I'm loyal and true

But I'll love you forever if you do me no wrong

And I'll stand by you eternally long

THE HAND OF FATE

How could I have known the effect you had on me

Tossing and turning trying to stick to reality

From a chance meeting that left me tormented

The effect on my brain was to leave me haunted

Trying to put everything into perspective

And trying my best to be subjective

But you're on my mind and stuck in my head

I'm unable to think straight or of anything instead

You've crept up on me unaware

This effect has me so scared

How could I have let my guard down and fallen for you

You must have bewitched, cast a spell or used voodoo

For I'm falling in love against my will and lost all resistance

A chance meeting, how can fate change in a instant?

You've cast your spell, now its too late
