A SLEEPING FAIRY
A fleeting glance was all it took
I rubbed my eyes perhaps I mistook
But in the wooded clearing I did spy
A beauteous creature asleep lie
At first I did not want to wake
But her beauty the sight I could not intake
I thought perhaps this is a dream
Through some veiled dream like state seem
So fine and delicate was her face
And on her back folded wings of gossamer lace
Around her shoulders fell hair of gold
I wanted to touch her to be so bold
For just as I reached out to touch her hand
She opened her eyes and caught me with her wand
And now I am trapped in this wood
With arms outstretched I should have understood
To wake a sleeping fairy from her sleep
Was so wrong just for a peep
So here am I forever reaching out I will be
Mesmerised and magicked as a tree
